Yes, finally some less toxic and more responsive drugs for our stage 3 folks. It will for a one year duration of infusions every two weeks. I imagine the other PD1, Keytruda will follow suit.

Hi Catherine,

My apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question, however do you know when/if Opdivo will be approved for Stage III adjuvant treatment in Europe? I am located in Poland and have been informed by all specialists whom I've spoken with here here that there is no immunotherapy available for stage III, and currently no clinical trials which I could qualify for.

I am currently sitting in the hospital after my CLND (not sure yet how many were involved, definitely one palpable node so I am at least IIIb). I was diagnosed stage II last August, but during a tourine scan they found a suspect lymph node which turned out to be melanoma in my left armpit (same armpit they took the sentinel nodes from at the time of the SLND)

I wonder if there is a way to get immunotherapy.. watch and wait seems nerve-wracking and I would prefer to fight this more actively!

Thank you in advance for any advice you might have.
Best,
Eva

Hi Eva,
Sorry to hear you went through that surgery. Hope the healing process goes well. I'm uncertain when the EU or other global sites will have the immunotherapy approved for adjuvant therapy. I do hope to embark on more research on the global front at ASCO first week of June and gather what I can. I can tell you that many docs are not prescribing it for stage III unless very high risk and watching and waiting will still be the normal course of things. Best wishes on your recovery.

Hi Catherine,
Thank you for your quick response! I look forward to hearing the results of your research :) It looks like I should be healing ok, very little pain and I am going home today, so fingers crossed!
Thanks again, and I will be checking in on the forum regularly :)
Best regards,
Eva

Hi Catherine,

I wonder if you know who I could reach out to in europe or in the USA regarding immunotherapy for Stage III. Turns out I am (as of right now at least) Stage III C, and am wondering if I should start looking for options internationally. I am a US citizen - so coming back to the USA might be an option as well, but I'm not sure where to start insofar as contacts go..

Thank you in advance,
Eva

The immunotherapy Keytruda and Opdivo are now available everywhere in the U.S. for stage III. Europe has not approved this yet. But I would see Bart Neyns in Brussels for an opinion.

Things seem to change so quickly with new melanoma drugs being approved. I am a stage 3 b patient but had significant side effects to ipi in 2017 so just watching for now.

Arent dabrafenib plus trametinib recently approved for melanoma folks?? Probably braf + patients im guessing

Yes the BRAf/Mek combos have been approved as well for stage III. I would advise that high risk (111C) rather than IIIA consider them. And I was wrong earlier in that Keytruda has not received approval yet for stage III.
