Two weeks ago I received my biopsy results stating I have a third melanoma in-situ. My dermatologist uses my full body photos to examine my skin every three months, and I examine myself monthly. I feel overwhelmed with the amount of moles I have (100+), and have asked my dermatologist if there’s anything else I can be doing to help detect another melanoma. My doctor said monthly self exams are my best defense. But while researching melanoma on the internet I’ve come across digital dermoscopy with serial photography. This technique seems that it would be beneficial to most of us diagnosed with melanoma. Are any of your physicians using digital dermoscopy with serial photography; AND can anyone give me insight as to why my physician hasn’t mentioned this technique to me?? Thanks!!
