Yesterday we went to see Dr. Daud for the scan results after 12 weeks Anti-PD1. She appeared to be completely stationary. So, no growth is good news, but shrinkage would have been better. To remind you, Mari√ętte’s melanoma was extremely indolent to start with, so I find it hard to make a definitive conclusion that the Anti-PD1 is working.

I was actually prepared for a negative result after finding this paper:

Apart from being a rare case of indolence, she is also acral lentiginous, and from that paper I thought I could conclude that it is very unlikely that that combines with the ligand PD-L1 expression. Dr. Daud didn’t want to jump to that conclusion.

Another thing I thought about regarding her indolence is that she has alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency. When you look up how that works, it could sound like a build-in immune therapy.

Anyway, the short story is: ongoing Anti-PD1 infusions and another 3 month of waiting.

Well lack of progression is good news! I hope things continue for her that way. I will take a look at the citation too. Thanks for posting!
