I have recently been diagnosed with stage IIIb melanoma. I have previously been diagnosed with sarcoidosis and am contemplating interferon a as a treatment. My sarcoidosis was centered in the stomach area and in the liver. It is currently in remission although there are sarcoidosis in the sacrum. Does anyone have input regarding the risk factors involved in starting interferon?
Good question. What does your onc think? Also was your melanoma completely removed? If there was some they could not get to, or you are considered high risk for a systemic reoccourance (such as with a mucosal melanoma) you may very well qualify for IPI and/or a PD1 trial, both of which may be considerably more effective than Interferon. Ask the onc. Actually ask several.
