Seize the days is a website created by Dr. Evan Lipson, a Melanoma Specialist at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. He is always a speaker in May at the Melanoma Support Group I attend in Northern Va near D.C. He records patients stories about their experience with Cancer. I ran across the website while searching NPR. NPR did an interview with him. I know from the forum that there a few of his patients on here. This post is also a plug for the support group I attend. it is run by Life with Cancer that is associated with Inova Fairfax Hospital. It is less than 2 minutes off 495 and an easy drive from suburban Md and 20 mins from D.C. It meets 4 times a year. It is struggling I think mostly because nobody knows about it. One thing I would like to hear from forum members is what makes a group successful. What do you focus on etc. I know the nurse coordinator
who runs the program and have been trying to help her with ideas. She was an oncology nurse at the same hospital I was a nurse for 33 years. She wants guest speakers but I am not sure we need to focus on that. So if others could chime in about what makes a group successful that would be great. The group meets 4 times a year and info can be obtained from Inova Life with Cancer. So any Metro D.C. Area people please think about attending. Next meeting will be in late September.
