The doctors I have seen for first and second opinions stress that the second surgical procedure needs to occur within 30 days of the original biopsy. I have an appointment with an oncologist to discuss the second surgery but it will have been over a month when I see her. Does anyone know of specific time frames recommended and why?
Welcome to the forum. You didn’t mention the depth of your original melanoma and the method of the biopsy. If it is a thin lesion and excisional biopsy performed, there shouldn’t be a huge hurry for the reexcision. But if there are other variables, I would say a month is a good time frame. Why are you getting the opinon of an oncologist? Are you scheduled for a sentinel node biopsy as well?
