My daughter, an oncology nurse, just returned home from ASCO, with some good contact info for me, Stage 4, BRAf negative.

Diagnosed with Stage I (superficial spreading) lesion on right shin in 2000. Had surgery to remove this in Cape Town, Soth Africa. Wide margins and skin graft.

Diagnosed Stabe IV in Oct. 2012, so twelve years. Tumor was on my ovary and wrapped around blood vessel on my inner thigh. Had surgery plus six weeks of radiation.

It has been six months since my Stage IV diagnosis. I go for a scan and blood work this week to check for recurrence.

I will be 66 this week.

That is great news! Rejoice!

I had never heard of lesions causing compression fractures. As if the poor guy didn’t have enough to deal with. So glad to know those can be fixed.

I was also diagnosed IV in October 2012. Although I’ve lived in the States since I was 5 (a long time ago!), I was born in East Yorkshire and will be returning to England in May for a short visit.
