I'm very worried about this diagnosis. I know I have to go in and get it excised and then have a SLN biopsy performed. I'm really worried and don't know what to tell my children. I was told the margins for the depth were clear but that the borders were not.

Yes, you will need a SLNB along with the wide excision (which a plastic surgeon should do) and then worry about what's next. Take it a day at a time. We have current therapies that are being used in the early stages to consider. Ask for the BRAF test be done on any positive nodes and the primary lesion to see if your tumor is braf positive. Then you should discuss adjuvant therapy. Be honest with your family and tell them you don't know yet what this means, but it could be serious but you will get the proper care you need.
